Solid pick for solid tone

I wanted to try these with my 5-string electric bass to see if I could get a better pick tone out of it. Some music just calls for the crisper tone from a pick instead of fingers. But I've never liked the tone I got out of plastic picks. This wood picks produce the crisp tone I was looking for, but it is not sharp and clicky like plastic picks usually are. It is crisp, yet still warm and mellow (if that makes any sense to anyone but me).It is thicker than any other pick I have played with, so it might take some getting used to. But for me, that just gives it a good solid feeling of control in my hand. They are pretty durable as well. I used one for almost a year before I stepped on it an snapped it down the grain. If I hadn't stepped on it, it would likely still be in use. There were three in the package, and I'm only on my second one so far. They also seem to be pretty easy on the strings. I've not had any trouble with the strings getting worn out from using the picks. The edge of the pick has been worn down slightly, but it is minimal and doesn't affect playability at all.If you can't tell, I love these picks. I would buy more, but I'm still on my first package! Unless I step on some more of them, I anticipate them lasting me quite a long time.

I like

I actually ended up liking these picks quite a bit. I normally use Dunlop Max Grips, switching between 1.0 and .88. I play faster punk rock styles and I was surprised I was able to play just as quickly with these. These do not give any flex and give a decent sound. They do seem to wear out rather quickly, through, which can be expected considering they are made out of wood.

I like these.

I like these picks. They are still a bit clumsy to me, I'm just not used to a pick that fat, but I enjoy playing with the hem and if I warm up with one of these picks then switch back to my usual Fender medium, I feel like I get a boost in dexterity in my right hand.

Solid pick!

For some reason I thought these would be thinner. It is a fairly stout piece of wood. I'm generally more of a light to medium weight pick guy but wanted to see these and see how they felt. Comfortable to hold. There is really no "give" at all in the pick though, it is a solid piece of wood. When used on my classical and an old 12-string the pick does produce a nice, mellow sound. Great addition to my pick collection though, but don't think I will use it much.

Unique Product

I cannot speak to the durability of these exotic wood picks, but so far, so good. They have a nice balanced feel, and for playing electric bass guitars (a 2000 Epiphone Jack Casady Signature Semi-Acoustic, 1978 Fender P-Bass with LaBella Flat Wound Strings, and a short scale 1971 Les Paul Tribute), they elicit an appropriately dulcet tone--offering a nicely balanced attack with an appropriately warm, harmonically complex timbre. A pleasant surprise, and one that has enhanced the musicality of a picking technique on bass guitars, where using my fingers would otherwise chew up my nails for classical guitar. For guitarists doubling on bass, this is a legitimate option.

Picking away...

I bought these for use with my Fender P Bass. I am not a pick player, but occasionally the band plays a song and it just makes sense to not kill my right hand playing sixteenths. There were no problems with the sound or impact, although I did have to figure out what grip worked best for me.

Awesome set of Picks

This set of wood guitar picks is a great buy! They are well carved and polished super smooth. Just take note that each pick will look different since it is wood; the size, color, and placement of the thumb grip vary slightly. The pick itself makes a deep clear open sound with my electric acoustic guitar. It's great if you're looking for a more acoustic sound or want to make your song/part sound more unique. They are super light weight which makes for easy playing and strumming but also great for plucking out individual strings or notes. I definitely recommend getting these!

eh

Wears down very easily, makes a "clangy" sound against my guitar strings as if it were made of metal or something very abrasive. Though the thumb area is a good idea, the tip of the pick gets smoothed until it basically "slides" when strumming. Wouldn't repurchase, but I would probably look into the bone picks when these all wear down

Brilliant!

I love these picks - great to hold and give a lovely tone on my mandocello

Stupidly large

These are gigantic. No one should need a pick even remotely this large if they're playing with proper technique. Might as well play with an entire tree.

Not my favorite

To thick for a decent pick and not flexible enough

Love these!

For bassists who want a nice pick sound, these are the best. Beefy and easy to hold on to, as well as indestructible!
