Soldering Iron 60w Replaceable Precision Tip Electronics Circuit Repair 110V Plug Pencil Welder

Somewhere in the description it said that it was an adjustable iron. I interpreted it to mean that there was a selector of some kind on the handle or cord to change the wattage, there was not. It does work for what it was originally designed for though.

This is a 60 watt soldering iron.For most electrical applications a 15 watt is enough. For delicate operations you would want 7 1/2 watts. A 30 watt iron is as much as most people would for soldering household use.60 watts is huge. It is usefull for soldering larger connectors that you need to heat quickly.I have read reviews from users that it gets hot and smells bad. It's supposed to get hot and smell bad!If you don't know what size soldering iron to get, you probably want one with lower wattage.

Finally got to use, heats quick, tins easily, nice iron

I knocked off a star for lack of a stand to keep the tip off the table when you lay it down. I'm used to one so the first time I used it I burned a hole in my wooden work table top.

The designers obviously did not consider ergonomic or common sense factors for this tool. It is not balanced from the handle end so beginners beware of the difficulty and potential danger in holding it and setting it down; it tends to rest on the heating element since it is so "top" heavy and will burn whatever is below the tip. I am designing a mod to rectify this as well as a temp control so it does not burn the devices I am trying to solder.

Unfortunately it died soon after it’s maiden voyage, but most likely from the moisture in the shop. Having a Jewelry steamer right next to iron, and although it was off it still wouldn’t work after plugging it back in. Some irons are sealed better then this so I can only recommend it low moisture conditions.

Needs a stand of some sort, other than that it works well for wiring.

It's almost worth buying this soldering iron just to get a good laugh at the instructions on the back! Something got messed up when translating chinese to english, it's hysterical. You would think they could get someone to proof read in ENGLISH!
