A great piece of kit
I did a lot of research before purchasing this battery tester and was not disappointed with it when it arrived. It feels study and has very good quality cables and clips ... unlikely many other cheaper versions. The instructions are clear and when using the downloaded app, it shows a whole variety of output for battery health and charging voltage etc. It even automatically screenshots the outputs so you don't have to make a note of them. Overall, very impressed. Only given a 4 Star rating as there could be more explanations on what each reading means and what is good / bad etc.

Amazing value for money.
Well worth the money. Bought this to go along side my topdon battery tester that prints out a report. More because I want to be able to monitor the battery voltage while at the seat if the battery's in the boot or under the bonnet. The refresh rate works really well on the default settings but I have found if you try to change the time base it crashes and doesn't show you anything. That's the software as when you change it back it spring to life again. The crank test is good. Not 100% accurate it shows the battery voltage and does a good load test etc however I have noticed it can be low if you don't have it connected to a lead terminal. Also crashes if attracted to a steel earth or live point which some car only have access to. The clamps are good quality but I have noticed the spring is not quite hard enough to keep a hold and the teeth could do with having a bigger flat contact area between them. The fact you can save and screen shot the readings is brilliant you can also share them. The button on the front does a quick test which is handy. One other thing I will say. I have an old fashioned battery tester with a big coil on two probes that heats up. When I test a battery with this it can show a strong battery when the battery is fully charged. The topdon can show a battery as good when it can't handle a big draw. It can also show a fully charged new battery as bad if it's had a couple of starts of a car. Don't know why but I have tested batteries with my big tester and the voltage drop was fine but the top don failed it..Make sure the battery has had a full charge. However with some of the new start stop battery's sitting at near 15 volts it can fail stating battery not ready. Having to drain a battery to below 14.8 volts to get it to test. Don't know again why.I do a lot of battery tests and most of the time it's been correct. Most of the time the voltage and the state of the battery have been near to the actually voltage on my scope or meter. Well worth the money. Hopefully an update will come out some time.

Does it give timely, helpful information?
I'll answer my own question by commenting the device is very useful. Granted, most of the information it imparts can be obtained from a good meter, but to have pre start battery voltage, cranking voltage and alternator output under load all available on a £20 (that's what I paid on offer) gadget is time saving. All readings are saved on the app by Bluetooth so we can sit in our cars to keep warm after connecting it . Thank you Topdon!

great when using the app
had to return mine because the built in check light wasn't working, however using via the Bluetooth app worked fine for me , the app has a problem when you input the data the next button at the bottom is hidden by keyboard so you have to press somewhere else in the void to continue which on my iphone 12 was a bit odd. tests battery and cranking via app also can determine if the alternator is bad or not.
