YAMAHACD-S303BL CD Player

Good product. Two annoying things: the paint which has a rough touch = not easy to clean and the CD loading which takes ages.

I bought this Yamaha CD-S303 together with a Rn600a receiver. The CD player features an on board D/A convertor with optical output as well as a conventional RCA analogue output. The player looks/feels well constructed, although, the remote supplied is grey, no doubt to cover both the silver and black versions. Playback quality is good and the draw etc. works smoothly.Mine came with 1.61 version firmware and I updated to 1.63 with some difficulty due to the stick I was using. What learnt in the process is that although this player has a front USB socket which also plays MP3s etc. it's very fussy about the USB sticks it will accept both in terms of size and capacity. I could only get it to work with a 16GB stick and it's limited to less than "500 folders" but I think they mean files based on my experience.This conservatism about USB size is mirrored by other brands too - I recently bought a desktop radio/CD player from another major brand it was limited to 32GB sticks. If your preferred source of music is USB then this might not be the player for you but in all other respects it's fine.
