easy to install

The product was as described. There are no instructions as others have said. If your buying parts for your vehicle you should have a slight clue how to use tools and have basic mechanical ability. That being said the install should only take a few minutes. Remove the screws that are in it and use the screws from the light on the truck. Hold the new LED light next to the OEM light after you have removed the screws. Look at how the bulbs are arranged right to left. Twist and remove the bulbs from the old fixture. Take the 3 bulbs out and put them in your pocket. Hold the new fixture in place. Check that the wire ends on the new fixture plugs are routed up over the end straight. Plug them in where you just took the bulbs out of. Line up the notches and twist lock back in place the same way you took them out. I replaced it because I saw water running behind the OEM light and I like LED lighting. A bit pricey for what it is, but easy install quick shipping overall good shopping experience. Looks good on the truck and should keep water out of the cab. I didn't silicone the new gasket or put any adhesive on it. It is plenty thick so tightened it down well. Don;t over tighten or you will break the plastic. Go even amounts side to side. I would buy again (shouldn't have to if it lasts ) for my 2013 F150 5.0L super crew XLT.

Led cargo break light

I installed them prior to securing it to the truck to check their work ability and compatibility with a non-LED vehicle and they worked fine checking them at night. The cargo light is bright enough to see the cargo and they look good. They were a little hard to plug in to the factory wiring initially, but as soon as I got them plugged in, they are working and my other lights are working and they are good product seats right as long as you get the seal secured onto the brake light appropriately. It will seat and is protected. The screw holes were a little off, but once you get the screws into the hole , they were fine. It looks a lot better than the factory light assembly.

Highly Recommend - LED with Easy Connectivity

OK - Almost every after market third brake light replacement unit comes without any instructions! The lights come with a single plug connector and the rest is up to you. It should be easy because to plug it into the mate on the original harness once you unplug your original brake light. Not on a Ford F150. First you have to find the harness plug. It is pushed back into a hole in the roof structural beam locating it is not easy. If you do find it you have to loosen a retaining screw and clip in order and to pull it out to where you can unplug it from the old harness There are warnings on the net that you will shred your fingers doing that!!!!Mine did not have a plug that I could locate. The harness just disappeared into the roof. So I did some due diligence and learned that trying to find and get at the original plug was not an anomaly!!! My F150 is a 2006 and in 2010 ( found a label on the brake light back) it had been replaced. Whoever had done that had run into the elusive plug situation. So thru cut the original harness where it went into the roof - to bypass the inaccessible plug - and prepped the wires to connect to the harness to the wires on thre replacement brake light.Problem was that the 2010 replacement light light sockets used Halogen bulbs and they had cooked the sockets and I would have run knto exactly the same problem down the road So I returned the OEM style replacement light to Amazon and opted for a highly rated “cool” LED harness insteadThis third brake light will not cook your bulb sockets. It has the LED lights at the end of three socket locks twist and turn in and out of its brake light housing. I still had cut off the plug and strip back the plastic around the wires - unhook my battery - match the prepped ends of the old harness wires and connect them to the new brake light , wrap them well with electrical tape and re-instal - but it only took 15 minutes versus the hour I spent on the learning curve for the first unit. Why disconnect the battery? Touching a hot wire to the metal on the roof by accident will blow a fuse that is hooked into your cabin lights and instruments. Easy enough to put in a new fuse except Ford in their infinite wisdom has no listing in the manual as to which fuse governs the third brake light. You have to do search on the net to find out that there are four different numbered fuses that you can choose from - depending on model and year!!! It’s a lot Easier to bypass that potential problem by disconnecting the battery vs doing contortions in the passenger footwell trying to find, remove and replace the right fuse!!!!!!So Net Net I Highly Recommend this unit. It looks great and works perfectly and it burns cool. It also comes with an adhesive waterproof foam gasket to install between the light and the truck roof to stop any rain leaks.

Looks good but...

This did not fit very well, had to alter some stuff to get a weatherproof seal. The led lights look great and the smoked look matches the rest of my truck, overall I'm happy. It may require some altering to get a good fitment.

Connectors would not insert into bulb sockets on 2005 F150 Supercab

Just installed this in 05 F150 Supercab. It is supposed to be an advantage of this part over the OEM 7L3Z13A613B that the old bulbs just need to removed and this part's connector plugs into the old bulb socket. I.e., No need to drop headliner to attach connectors. Unfortunately, this part's plugs would not fit in the bulb socket. After reading other reviews, found there is another post indicating it does not fit a 2005. If you watch the video, it does not show the plugs being inserted, but mentions that they fit very tight. I tried many things and the plug's width is just too much for the socket's inner contact. I finally tried forcing it with a small vice after making a jig, but that only broke the socket. Rain was coming and I didn't want water to get into the cab of the truck so I cut off the connectors and soldered wires together. This turned a 20-minute job into a 3hr job. The lights do work and seem bright enough. Other reviews talk about the gasket being thick making a good seal. I'm not so sure about that. There were still gaps so used clear silicone as recommended by a few other reviewers. Be very careful tightening the screws...if you hear a "pop" while tightening, it means the light's plastic broke and it will rattle. Unfortunately, I know this from experience. It doesn't take much force to overtighten. As other reviewers said, just snug it down and rely on the silicone to keep it from leaking.
