Was a bit sceptical that such a cheap, simple solution would work. But it most certainly did.The photo shows two 50 litre containers, each connected to about 10 plants. Each container delivered about 5 litres a day. We came back from 6 days of heatwave to find every plant perfectly watered.They come with excellent instructions, although some of the English is entertaining.Tips for success:1) Give yourself a few days to get the rate of water delivery right. There are quite a few different things you can do, all spelled out in the instructions. It took us three days of trial and error.2) Try to keep the cords as straight as possible between water source and plant. If there is too much bowing, the water will drip onto the floor and never make it to the plants.3) Buy more than you think you need. It is so cheap anyway. More cord on the ground around the plant keeps the cord from the water straighter. How deep you let the cord go into the water affects how much water is delivered.

This is good quality cotton rope. I used it to set up a plant self watering system before a 3-week vacation. Worked perfectly! Would buy again.

I bought this to water my plants whilst on vacation. I cut lengths of what I needed, put one end in a water bottle and the other end laid in the plant soil. One water bottle lasted a week and kept my plants happy. I would buy again.

Set these wicks up, in my greenhouse, with 4 cucumber plants and 6 tomato plants in the tenuous hope that it would keep them alive for the 9 days I was away. My cucumbers had just started growing baby fruits and the tomatoes typically began to ripen two days before I left. I did not hold out much hope of the plants staying alive as they drink so much and these wicks could not possibly supply the amount of water they were used to. I just hoped that the fruits would continue to ripen. I cut 24 sections of wick; two for each plant. I placed three full buckets of water; one each to serve 4 plants. I made sure the wicks touched bottom of bucket and went over the side, straight down into the soil by roots (all plants were in growbags). The wicks were only just long enough ( will buy extra packet next time ) but just sufficed. When I returned home, last night, I anxiously went down to the greenhouse to see the damage. Instead, I saw red ripe tomatoes, through the glass, even before I got inside. All the plants were alive! Two buckets recently empty and the third with about two inches of water left in. Lots of ripened tomatoes. 5 cucumbers ready to pick , with lots more on he way. Couldn't have been happier. Not sure this would have worked if I had been away any longer but for just over a week it did the job. Highly recommended. Happy customer.

I figured for this small investment I would give these cords a try! And they work as advertised. I've had 3 plants hooked up for over a week and they are doing great. Even a plant in the sun is still being watered. But, be careful of a smaller pot. I hooked up one and it got overwhelmed with water, so I plan to put a small amount of water in the reservoir so it will run dry after a few days. Or so I hope. The instructions mention tying knots. I'm trying that on another plant.
