Just what I was looking for!
Having a "fixed small" paint cup on the "top" of the airbrush is exactly what I was looking for! My previous airbrush was a very good and expensive one that preformed very well, however the paint cup was not fixed and was attached at the bottom of the airbrush. Sometimes it would actually fall off during painting. It also sat too close to where I would hold the airbrush so I would accidentally push on the paint cup as well, which in turn made it loose and eventually made it fall off. While using it if I tilted the Airbrush too far forward then some pant would also spill out... bummer... SO, This "Renegade" series Airbrush with its "smaller, fixed" paint cup on the "top" of the airbrush itself is just amazing! Allows me to only use a small amount of pain and I can tilt the airbrush in all sorts of angles without worrying about spillage. I don't have to worry about the paint cup getting in the way when I'm holding the airbrush because it sits on top and is out of the way. It wont fall off because its permanently attached. Very easy to clean! I would however recommended getting extra parts for it.. Especially the needle and tips on the inside. As I have accidentally damaged mine already trying to clean it. The airbrush needle does stick if not cleaned extremely well. I would recommend taking the needle out after each use and cleaning it, its very easy and re installing it. Before its next use get the needle wet with water to lubricate it before you try to move the needle or you may damage some internal parts if the needle is stuck as I have found out already from not cleaning it well enough. This airbrush is the best I have ever used for my Modeling, I get VERY fine lines for detailed paint jobs.. I can also get a very wide spray pattern for large painting areas. I cant be happier with this brush... Renegade R4VJ is the best airbrush I have used to-date!

Good Airbrush for models
This is my first airbrush so take this with a grain of salt. I got this airbrush for 40k modeling. From what I can tell, it is basically a Badger Velocity with a smaller cup size making it easier to see what you're doing. A full cup can base coat most of a lemun Russ tank, or for those who don't know what that is about 2-3 minutes constant spraying. The 1 inch max spray width is perfect for this job, and its combination of hairline spray and tiny cup makes fine detail work like infantry models a breeze. Overall, this does a great job from large to small models and is a lot better than spray paint for base coats. The nicest feature for me was how forgiving this model is. It is easy to disassemble and is extremely easy for a beginner like myself to learn how to clean, disassemble and assemble, and use an airbrush without bending the fine needle or breaking anything when taking it apart for the first time. As a side note, this doesn't come with an actual guide as to how one disassembles the brush (just a diagram) but there is a nice youtube guide.Overall, I was extremely impressed for $90 and was glad I went with this Badger than a more expensive brush.

Really poorly thought out nozzle tip design is a fatal flaw.
I wanted to wait until I had an opportunity to really use this airbrush before reviewing it. I purchased this airbrush after it came highly recommended by a number of comparisons. If I were grading this airbrush simply on its ability to throw paint, I would give it 5 stars. It is controllable and precise and I love the small cup size. The problem is that it's a nightmare to use if you want to backflow the airbrush. For those who don't know, backflow is the act of covering the nozzle tip with your finger creating an airtight seal and pulling the trigger back which forces the air back up through the cup, sometimes referred to as "bubbling". This is useful for a number of things:* Mixing paint and thinner in the cup* Stirring/mixing the paint in the paint in the cup for things like metallics so the metallic particles don't settle at the bottom* Cleaning the airbrushBecause Badger - for whatever reason - likes to use nozzle tips that don't cover the needle or allow you to create an airtight seal, it makes backflow a pain. You can't do it with your fingertip like other airbrushes. The only way to do it with this airbrush is to keep a towel or rag nearby and use it to pinch the needle tip firmly. Doing it this way works, but you end up with the inevitable leak because you can't get a perfect seal and paint all over the front of the airbrush.Honestly a waste of a hundred dollars in my opinion. If I had to do it again, I would get the NEO CN Gravity Feed Dual Action Airbrush for half the price, and it comes with two cup sizes.

Sturdy, sharp and, most of all, predictable airbrush. A must have.
An an illustrator, I was looking for a detail and versatil airbrush, of high quality, comfortable, with a small cup, easy to put apart and clean. Gathering all those qualities, The Badger R4VJ Renegade Velocity Jet has been my choice. Very well and cleverly build, it produce a very even paint blow. The trigger is smooth and, most off all, this airbrush is predictable. Mean, once you experiment it a bit, you exactly know when the paint is starting to be spread. For me, that THE quality an airbrush must offer. It come with a 0.21 mm needle and noozle but 0.33 are available as well for larger spray. All this make the Velocity a real quality and nice tool for me.

Amazing
I have used about 6 other airbrushes and this one is by far the nicest I have used. I paint warhammer and other minature games so It is awesome that it can do base coats and then be changed to do fine detail. I have also used it to airbrush body air and we were able to do veins with this airbrush. Worth every penny.

Great Airbrush that needs some breaking in.
While it needs some lubrication and to be worked in, it was great right off the bat. I'd buy it again.

The best airbrush series ever made by Badger
Good trigger control. Easy to disassemble for maintenance. Outstanding hard case. Good hand grip and balance. In the right hands this a great paint tool. Definitely this is not for beginners, just for experienced ones.
