I didn't think this would work as the distance from my nearest Deco node was quite far but surprisingly it did. The signal it receives isn't great but it still functions as normal. I can talk to whoever presses the bell and record motion using an sd card. Battery life is pretty good too, having only had to charge it once but I suppose that depend on how many times motion is triggered which is pretty much a lot as unfortunately it does pick up some surrounding bushes outside of my gate. It does differentiate between people and cars which is great, notifications are sent immediately so you know when someone or something is at your property. Depending on the signal there has been a little bit of video lag but overall it has worked fine and a great addition of extra security. It also comes with an indoor chime, easy to pair with the doorbell and works a treat, great to have the added sound alert.

I thought that buying a video doorbell would be a simple process. The usual brands selling in excess of £100 withIndoor chime extra all seemed to require a power supply of some kind. So I looked at Tapo £50 quid including chime and thought why not.When the package arrived I was extremely impressed with the quality and presentation and the fact that everything covering all of the installation options were included. The doorbell itself is a high tech well made piece piece of kit and the indoor chime is compact and unobtrusive.Installation was simple as I already had the Tapo app covering cameras at another location and it was just a case of + Add a Device and follow instructions.Having got the doorbell up and running I then experimented with various locations around my front door. My door is set back within a closed sided porch and as such gives the camera a very limited field of view. Having tried both sides of the door , with and without the wedges I decided to drill fix and mount it sideways (without wedge)onto the sidewall of the porch.The result was perfect , not only could I see the face and profile of any caller , I could see the front door and step, driveway and gate , letterbox , glass and key hole. This doorbell camera was also able to detect person activitywalking up from the driveway , which is something my external (well known brand) couldn’t do.

I had another recognised doorbell for the last 5 years but wasn't prepared to pay the monthly/yearly amount to access full features as well as my recordings, so after carefully considering I decided to look at another. I have a light bulb from Tapo, so as I already had the app and it was all set up on my phone I started to look at the doorbell. Firstly the price was very reasonable, came with the chime as well, and of course I can use a memory card to save my recordings which means there was no monthly/yearly fee, so and after reading the reviews I decided to make the jump and go for it.No problems setting it up, was fairly straightforward, a little problem connecting to the internet (had to reset it a couple of times) but seems to work pretty much the same as my previous doorbell so all good.You have 4 different detection options, Motion, Person, Pet and Vehicle. I wanted person and pet (someones dog keeps pooing in my front garden and I want to catch who's doing it lol) so great, all set to go.Then I wanted to share with my son as he lives here and so wants to know when someone is at the door. This is the part I'm a little disappointed about. When you add someone they cannot change notification settings for their own personal choice. So the detection settings I want to be notified about, my son will get the same whether he likes it or not. But he doesn't want them! he simply wants the doorbell, he doesn't want to be spammed with any of the others, he has no interest in whose dog is pooing in the front garden lol! but if I want them then he has to have them too. I contacted Tapo support and was told this is the way it is.Something so simple!! so now I have to turn all of the motion settings off and I can't have them either as I don't want to inflict them on my son. To add, it does still record them, so if I want to look back at any recordings I can, I don't just don't get notified at the time.Sort this out Tapo!! family members want different notifications for different options, one size fits all doesn't work in this case!Otherwise generally happy, connects to my echo show too and that notifies me when someone is at the door (although it says someone is at the Tapo doorbell and I'd rather it said someone is at the front door, but maybe thats an Alexa setting). But 4 stars because of the notification issue which I think should be looked at.

Was easy to install and the angled mounting plate was very useful to fit on the wall at the side of the door. The camera angle is wide and the picture is crisp. Even the night vision is great. App is easy to install and you can get the bell ring and view the camera remotely from anywhere using the Internet. You can install the app on as many smartphones as you want. More than 3 weeks and the battery has 78% charge remaining. Could not ask for a better product.

I bought this doorbell to replace a well known doorbell which kept dropping out from my WiFi which has an excellent signal, even though the doorbell was only 4 meters from my router.Their customer service response was to buy a WiFi booster, which is not very helpful and costly, even though I have to pay nearly £50 a year to get the activated video.I chose this video doorbell as it had good reviews and takes an SD card to record various actions and, best of all, an excellent price and no annual fee.I can’t be more pleased with my purchase. The original doorbell took a number of seconds before it warned me of any movement etc. This is nearly instantaneous and the quality is excellent.You can programme it individually for Motion, Animals, Vehicles and People, and change sensitivity and distance easily. When the bell is operated it gives alerts my phone immediately, allows me to see who it is, and converse with them if I need to.It is relatively easy to set up and connect to Alexa.All in all an excellent quality product.
