I never had a problem with the way they used to tear off, but I guess those Charmin engineers need something to do in order to earn their paychecks. They aren't worse! And the tear edge is prettier now... so there's that.

if you're over 40, you might remember that sometimes it was difficult to change out the roll, because of the interference between the roll, the bracket, and the spindle. i guess mfrs didn't think we'd notice the 30% size reduction, eh? spoiler: it ain't "normal" for your TP to flop around on the spindle.

I love the wavy design at the bottom of each of the pieces of tissue it tears quite easily and never rips.
