Q: Will this replace a Hoover part number AH41001?

All I can say is that the material appears to be the same, the secondary filter on mine is 5 3/16" x 2 1/4" overall and the notch that is cut out is 1 7/16" x 9/16" and fits perfectly in the filter housing.

Q: How often do you change this filter?

I like both Jod's and Georich's answers. I would purchase the filters, install one, check it after a couple of weeks use, try vacuuming it as Georich suggests, and reinstall it. It's a simple procedure. Then adjust your schedule for checking it as you imagine appropriate based on your first go around. Your vacuum will function without damage even though the filter might be somewhat dirty, so there is lots of room for experimentation.

This filter fits underneath the bag in the dust compartment. It is not a hepa filter. It's a second stage filter for air flow. Hope this helps.

Q: My hoover is model uh74200, high performance swivel. i need the rinsable filter that wraps around the one in the dirt cup. which one is compatible?

This is just a flat filter with a cutout on one side that fits Windtunnel vacuums. Pretty sure it is not rinsable nor wraparound.
