Not too Shabby
I've never heard of this transformer as a race car, but it does resemble an F1 racer quite a bit. My nephew like this one better than the cheap-O Bumble bee version. Recommended

Mirage, a vision of sartorial splendor in blue and white
First, a brief background on me, to qualify my review: I'm an adult transformers collector who takes all her transformers toys out of their packaging and transforms them. In the case of the Kre-o, assembles them. As a child, my parents refused to purchase action figures or Barbies, but freely bought Legos for Christmases and birthdays. Previously assembled Kre-o sets: Jazz. So some observations may be repeated here.Time to assemble: About an hour and forty-five minutes to put the robot mode together, disassemble it, and then put the car mode together. Now on to the toy: In robot mode Mirage is about as big as a regular Deluxe Transformers toy. Then again, his car mode is so long that it is also as big as a regular Deluxe toy. He looks pretty darn good. I like the color choices in this set. I like the fact that his tires are rubber, but I wish they would actually roll. They also have this tendency to pop off at the least provocation. No mode uses all the blocks. In robot mode only two pieces remained. I can handle that, I think I could slip them onto the back of his legs for the sake of display. In car mode half of the ball joint pieces aren't used as well as a few other random blocks. I put the random blocks on the bottom of his car mode, but the other pieces are just sort of ... there. I'm still rather disappointed that neither mode uses all the pieces, because I have to store these loose bits when I put on the shelf to display.I didn't have any problems with the instructions, I thought they were pretty clear and straightforward. The plastic is of pretty good quality and construction. The little people figures though seemed a little cheaper made than their Lego counterparts ... but I do like having the little robots. So cute! Little Kre-o Mirage is not as cute as Jazz (I think it's the lack of door wings) and has the frowniest of little faces. Now on to the bad: The instructions do not lay flat. It's a minor quibble, but it's a really annoying detail, because I've got my hands full of Mirage parts and Mirage and can't spare a hand to pin the instructions down. I used a pillow. Still very annoying. They should have just stapled the instructions Lego style instead of binding them booklet style. It LOOKS better bound, but it's less practical.I had better luck with the stickers here than with Jazz, but the Autobot sticker that goes on the curving front piece does not lay flat at all. It's on a curving piece, so of course not! Speaking of stickers? CHEAP, HASBRO, CHEAP. Lego has painted blocks ... Hasbro makes you apply stickers to get detailing on Mirage. APPLY STICKERS. Honestly, Hasbro, it couldn't have cost that much to PAINT A FEW BLOCKS THAT YOU ARE MASS PRODUCING. As an adult, I had a hard time getting these on neat and straight and undamaged ... I can only imagine what children would go through. Not to mention the damage the stickers will suffer from the amount of play children would put any set through. This more than anything really showed the lesser quality of this set of blocks in comparison to it's Lego counterpart.Overall? I liked it. I enjoyed putting it together. I got satisfaction out of putting together a favored Transformers character. But ... but ... there was always those small annoying cheap bits about the set that put me off, like the booklet and the stickers. The stickers most of all. So I give this set a four. One star loss for the stickers.
