We purchased 2 of these heaters a Big Buddy heater and the smaller portable heater. Both to run on 20lb tanks for use in our kitty cottages for our rescue cats. The larger heater gets very warm and we have only needed to use it on medium and high twice for 2 minus degree nights other wise a 2nd smaller portable heater would more than sufice.Heaters are well made and rugged feeling. Tip over switch cuts the flame quickly. Both heaters will run on smaller 1lb tanks. I'd say on low both heaters run for four or five 8 hour nights on one 20lb tank.We purchased the 10 and 12 foot hoses to use with the heaters so we can keep the tanks outside of the cottages. My only gripe with the large Big Buddy heater is that the hose can only be mounted to one side of the heater and the space to get your hand in there to hook it up is small. We love the fact that these were designed to be used indoors as compared to many other propane heaters.I saw another review by a outdoorsman who routinely travels with his heater and sort of puts it thru some abuse in the back of his truck and the heater after 2 years still works due to rugged design. Our heaters wont see that but I feel its probably true.Highly recommend !!!

Great great heater worked well this winter. And I also would recommend buying the hose which I did.

These work great and saved us when power went out

I think people should be aware of the dangers this poses around children. It’s radiant heat, so it up a room quickly.

I have owned a big buddy for nearly the last 20 years. My original one recently had the plastic disintegrate, but I took that thing everywhere, so the environmental extremes it was subjected to made it understandable that the plastic parts would do this. Not a problem though, I made a wood frame for it, because it still works great - it starts on the third or fourth spark. I do maintain the plumbing to ensure there are no leaks. I purchased this second one last month and it still has the same quality I recall from the first, but with the removal of the little electric fan. I never used it anyways. Hunting in the late fall with below freezing temperatures is not an issue with this operating on low in a tent. Any higher of a setting would have been too hot. I would recommend to a friend without small children.
