Good idea, just not the solution I needed
This surge protector seemed promising and is definitely well-made, the concept is solid, and I can see how it could be helpful in many situations. Unfortunately, it didn’t quite solve the issue I was hoping to fix.It might be a great fit for someone with different needs or a different setup, but in my case, it just didn’t have the impact I expected. That said, the product itself is well-designed, and I appreciate the quality and effort behind it.So while it wasn’t quite right for me, I wouldn’t discourage others from trying it, just make sure it matches your specific situation.

Let me save you some time.
This is the best surge protector there is. Get this one! You can research it if you like, but this is where the internet will point you. And you'll likely think it pricey, but if you have any sensitive musical or computer equipment, this protection is the best out there and it's actually cheaper than some other professional grade surge protectors. The ISOBAR is built of solid metal, I mean solid, so the box itself will last forever. This is a professional grade surge strip. Now there are some plastic trip-lite protectors meant for your TV stuff. They're cheaper and work fine, at least I've never had any problem. But I definitely want the ISOBAR for all my musical plugging in. I bought my first ISOBAR over 20 years ago, and it still works like a charm. I've bought 5 more since. I have a project recording studio that I use these in for pretty much everything I plug in there, and other than making the move to installing an overall surge protector at the studio's breaker box, in which if I did, I'd pop some big bucks for, these are all I will ever use. Now, as great as these are at protecting your equipment against the all too frequent and city common city power voltage surges, particularly in areas with hydroelectric power, all surge protectors have their limitations. While they protect against surges, most surge protectors don't deal with sudden drops of voltage. And I've been told by my amp guy, it's the drops that you should worry the most about. The ISOBAR is designed to recognize a sudden voltage drop and let the power latch down a bit slower to protect the equipment. Now there are some power conditioners out there, quite a bit more expensive to be sure, that are actually designed to deal specifically with sudden drops in voltage. Of course the main culprit here is city power going out altogether while you have your equipment running. And the best protection for that is a battery backup that will keep all your equipment running at a steady voltage level even without power. This is your best protection by all means. But the grade of battery backup you will need in a music project studio is going to cost you a big old wad of cash. And, you are going to have to run some power strips out of it anyway, so they might as well be ISOBARS.And one last disclaimer. Despite everything you do. There's one equipment killing culprit you just can't do anything about. And this one has gotten a few of my machines. Static electricity! In particular, the static caused by nearby lightning strikes. It travels through the air, so there's just no way to block it. But you can try to keep the studio as centrally located in your dwelling as possible and that will really help. One way or the other, you want some surge protection at the power source, and this is the surge protection strip you want.

The best surge protectors I've found
I did a bunch of research before coming up with a strategy for our house; it included a whole house surge protector (Siemens), decent quality type-3 surge protectors at the outlets for most of our electronics, and this very high quality type-3 protector for my computer workstation, which I don't want to take any risks with.Choosing these products is hard, because the marketing departments assume you're stupid. They wow you with information that's relatively unimportant (Joule ratings) and completely worthless (EMI filtering). Trust me, audiophiles, if an EMI filter makes a real difference to your sound quality, you have a defective power supply. They'll also try to wow you with their equipment protection warranties. Isobar is not innocent here. Read the fine print and you'll see why no one in the history of the known universe has ever gotten a dime from one of these claims. To find what actually matters you often have to dig deep on the manufacturer's site. This Isobar has it: 1) protection on all 3 phases; 2) low let-through voltage (officially 330v, which is lowest the UL standard allows in the specs, but in real life it's actually lower on this unit); 3) very high surge amperage rating (not really needed if you have a whole-house protector, but nice to have); 4) filtration for ringing transients. If you can find all this, you'll have very good protection. I've found some others that come close, and for less money (including some by APC which I've bought) but none as good as this series by Isobar. I think worth it for things that you can't afford to get zapped.Added: there are some supposedly high-end surge protectors that use a serial protection circuit, rather than the parallel metal oxide varistor circuits used by Isobar and most others. They claim (correctly) that their circuits are not sacrificial like MOVs (which deteriorate a little with every surge and so don't last forever). But these serial circuits have a fatal flaw: they only protect against surges on a single phase (live to neutral). Surges coming over other phases, including anything on the ground wire, will pass right through. These are not high-end options; they gimmicks marketed to rubes. If you look at the surge protectors use in places like hospitals and giant data centers, you'll see MOVs, not serial nonsense.

works well
I bought this to solve an intermittent popping sound coming through the speakers in my stereo sys. I had isolated and substituted every component, but the popping continued, scary loud at times. Did a little searching, suggesting were that the noise was coming from the ac power lines, inside or outside house I can not say. So I did more research and decided I didn't want to spend a fortune on isolated power supplies or conditioners. The Tripp Lite Ultra Isobar 6 was recommended from various sources got it next day haven't heard a pop since. Absolutely solved the problem no bs no snake oil. I you can only pull so much power through this. I have 2 150w ab monos and 1 25w class a amp but when I add a linear power supply the monos won't power up. It works and it works well. Recomended.
