Worked perfect for me!
Honestly , I don't understand why so many people made a big stink about this product. I use tide laundry detergent as it is, so my first choice for a wash machine cleaner was obviously going to be tides brand first. My wash machine recently decided it wanted to start getting smelly so I looked into a possible cause and discovered I needed to buy a cleaner and clean my wash machine once a month. (I never knew this before that wash machines can get smelly and need to be cleaned once a month, stupid me! But I'm also a bit younger and haven't been on my own but for so many years now). I used one packet so far and already notice a huge difference. The bad smell is slightly still noticeable. But No where near what it was like. I'm still going to use one packet a week for the next couple weeks like it recommends you do the 1st 3 weeks .and then maintain it at 1 packet a month. And if I made huge progress after 1 pack, I'm pretty sure I'll make progress with my next 9 packs left over. Also I had no residue left behind . I did the rinse cycle twice to ensure all of the cleaner was drained out. And the smell of the product...to me...smells wonderful and very clean. So I don't understand why people are acting like it's too strong. And that its not cleaning, and that its leaving residue. Who knows, but i do know If you want something to be clean, you cant knock it for smelling clean, right? But to each their own. All I know is my experience after one packet was good. I also have a standard, non HE , Top load washer. Nothing fancy. Almost the cheapest of the cheap.400 bucks at lowes. Has Always made my clothes nice and fresh and clean just like the high dollar stuff. So I don't know if maybe standard washer results vary from the HE washer results with this product. But I'm going to assume it's very possible.....bc it seems all this fancy stuff is for people with more money than sense. But in reality don't work any better than the old school stuff. I'd just recommend try it out and see what happens.

Defunks your washing machine but leaves it’s own funk
What’s there to say about a product you put into your washing machine and hit a button? If you’re buying this product to defunk your machine, it works like perfume on a stinky person. It masks the odor with a stronger one and if you don’t like the new one, you’re outta luck. It’s simple to use except you’ll need scissors or hulk-like strength to open the tough little packet. I’ve used this over the years but the price has skyrocketed so I have found much cheaper alternatives and have taught the other users of the washing machine to leave to door open.If you’ve read this far into my review, you deserve something, here are two tips. First, before starting Tub Cleaner mode on your HE machine, replace these expensive pouches by adding distilled white vinegar in the little drawer area where the detergent, bleach and fabric softener usually go. When I remember, I add some baking soda to the tub too. Then start the machine. This is a super cheap but effective and natural defunkifier most of us laundry maidens have in the house or have access to. My second tip is to attach a safety clip onto your door and machine that keeps the door open and allows airflow. If you do tip #2, you’ll NEVER need to do tip #1 unless someone closes the door and lets the funk harbor again. Good luck!

Works well --- see my note about the smell
I didn't realize that the interior of my front-loading machine needed to be cleaned until I saw it in the Owner's Manual while looking up how to remove the fabric softener drawer. So, about the "fragrance" --- Here's my experience:Yes, the total package of packets smells quite strong. I took one out and put the rest into a ziplock bag and put that bag back into the shipping box and left it in my garage. Then I followed the directions for my machine: press some button sequence until the letters "CLN" are displayed. Pour the powder into the detergent/fabric softener dispenser. Then ran the cycle. It seems important to run the "CLN" cycle instead of just a regular cycle. There was a slight "Tide detergent" smell in the laundry room. Only noticeable, I think, because we only use scentless detergent.I wasn't available at the exact moment that cycle finished - it was probably 10-15 minutes - I didn't even open the washing machine door but selected the "Rinse and Spin" cycle with spin speed "High" (per the instructions in the owners manual). About 10 minutes after that was done - without opening the washing machine door - I ran that exact same cycle a 2nd time. When THAT cycle was finished I did a load of towels - I put a pod of "All Free and Clear" (the standard detergent we use) into the machine, poured a good sploosh of vinegar into the detergent section of the detergent/fabric softener drawer and poured our standard measure of fabric softener into its compartment. Ran a cycle of "Bulky/Bedding" with Hot water.** There was NO smell to the load of towels. ** None at all.Your mileage may vary, of course. But this was my experience. I'm keeping the product and will use it again monthly (hopefully), as the manual suggests.
