This book helped melt away the pounds, despite my age, weight, and sluggish metabolism
Great book! Beautiful full page color photos of select recipes; Easy to read and very organized providing recipes and sample menus for breakfast, lunch, dinner, and a P.M. snack for each day of the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd phases. Each phase is 17 days long, and there is a fourth phase that instructs on maintenance. Lost over 16 pounds in phase 1, but fell off the wagon before I got to phase 2. This was without exercising, but it was my intention to start the exercise regimen recommended in The 17 Day Diet Break Through Edition. I need to get back on track. Tips: Stock up on green tea and make a picture of it for each day. Try to make a grocery list and shop for at least 7 days of meals at a time and have meals prepared at least 1 to 2 days in advance or as your schedule allows. Be prepared to double recipes in order to share some healthy eating with your family, and don't be afraid to combine a "no-no" item to round out their meals since most likely they will not be dieting. For example, the sample menu suggested Tandori chicken with fresh steamed spinach leaves for dinner, but I added long grain rice and golden sweet corn for my husband and the kids to avoid cooking a totally different meal for them. Be careful not to sample their food as you cook. Enjoy! If you are like me, you will be making new and delicious recipes in no time.

TRY IT!!!
This works! FACTS: Started about 6 weeks ago. Down 22 lbs and still losing. I am NOT counting calories. Cravings are all but a memory. Just had physical; blood test results best in years. The book has quite a bit of good information for those who need to understand the reasons why it does work. But, you don't have to "digest" all the explanation, simply read through the phases, learn what to eat and what to expect. This is way beyond a diet plan, it helps you change the way you eat. Thus far, I would have to say it is very sustainable.I've tried some of the recipes offered in the book. Those I tried have been easy to prepare and delicious; my favorites - chili, chicken vegetable soup, and power cookies (too bad the cookies don't fall into the unlimited daily consumption category). If you start it, stay with it. If you are like me and you like your sweets and/or your breads, the first 2 to 4 days is the period during which you will require some will power. Once your blood sugar evens out, the cravings drift away and are replaced with noticeably more energy. If you feel hungry while on this diet, you probably are not eating enough.if you have a smart phone, I would suggest a Kindle copy of the book if you have a smart phone. The Kindle app allows you to quickly access food lists in case you make an impromptu grocery stop.Enjoy!C

It's pretty good
So far I have been on the diet for 5 days. Of the 5 days I have made 4 of the recipes from Cycle 1: Kefir Smoothie; Turkey Picadillo Lettuce Wraps; Tandori Chicken Breasts; and the No-Fuss Eggplant Parm.So far, I've found it pretty easy to find most of the ingredients needed. Kefir is sold in the yogurt section of the grocery store and is offered in a number of varieties. I shop at ShopRite and both Shoprites in my city sell kefir. If you can't find kefir, just use either fat-free or low-fat plain Greek yogurt.I have made the smoothie with both Greek yogurt and kefir and find it to be really yummy. I look forward to have the smoothie every morning when I return from the gym.One of my favorite meals is the Turkey Picadillo Lettuce Wraps. I seriously had my doubts about it, but man is it good! I wasn't able to get Boston bib lettuce, so I opted for regular lettuce. I had the leftovers the following night and decided to stuff red bell peppers with the mixture, and I totally fell in love! It's super easy to make and really good! The Tandori chicken was also good, but not amazing. I ended up adding a little worcestershire and then I really enjoyed it. I made mine with steamed broccoli and cauliflower. The next day I used the leftover chicken (without the worcestershire) in a salad with balsamic vinegar and it made a perfect salad. The No-Fuss Eggplant Parm is also pretty good. I actually just made it for dinner and my husband really enjoyed it. I wasn't able to locate low-carb marinara sauce, so I opted to purchase Hunt's Tomato Sauce. When preparing the meal, I got the eggplant in the oven as per the directions. Then chopped fresh garlic and sauteed it in non-stick spray for about a minute, then I added the tomato sauce and let it heat up with the garlic. While the sauce was heating up I began cooking the turkey. Once the turkey was done, I drained it off and then added the sauce. I then followed the directions for the remainder of the dish. Also, the recipe says that this dish is a serving size of 4, but it's really 6 - 8 servings! So far, these meals have been very easy to prepare and , as stated earlier, most ingredients are readily available. If you're not able to find a particular ingredient, it's easy to find a substitute using Google.I'll update this review as I try more recipes.

Okay cookbook
I think that this cookbook would be more beneficial if it didn't go back through and highlight the steps again. Also, there is A LOT of seafood recipes in it. So if you like seafood, this is the book for you me on the other hand, I despise it. Anyhow I searched online and was able to find many more recipes on pinterest and such so keep that in mind. you dont always need the cook book.

Awesome Book: Even Better Flavors!!
This is a great book to purchase along with the 17 Day Diet Book. When I had the week off over Thanksgiving, I tried all of the recipes outlined in the first 17 days and they were surprisingly flavorful and delightful to eat! My husband and I are pretty serious food snobs, and are very selective in what we eat and the quality of the flavors we create. These recipes are so good, you don't even miss the fat. Tuna Salad without mayonnaise? I didn't think it could be possible. But this cookbook shows the way! Eggplant parmesean that's low fat? No way, right!? This cookbook shows you how to cook meals that are good for you AND extremely tasty! I use it all the time!PS. The Power Cookies are to die for!!!
