IMHO Best Holographic Sight Available

I have several of these sights. I like the reticle alot. Bright outer ring with 1 MOA dot in the center. Easily adjustable for the brightest daylight or near dark. Very easy to turn on and off. Really shines if paired with a Vortex 3X Mini-magnifier. The reticle looks ever better. If your vision needs correction the reticle may look fuzzy. I have a some astigmatism. Without my glasses the reticle isn't as solid appearing as it is with my glasses on. Still very visible but has a little bit of a fuzzy appearance. With glasses it is perfect and very solid. Long battery life and very easy to change if needed.

Great optic for the money!!!!

This gem is a quality hallo site. It’s easy to install and functions amazingly. Its size and adjustability make it a great value for the money. I will be buying another soon.

I love this scope

I wish it was a bit cheaper, but you get what you pay for. This thing is built like a tank. Very well thought out design, all operations including battery replacement and the QD mount is tool-less and I like the rear mounted buttons compared to the EOTech. Reticle is very crisp with plenty of brightness options for different environments or user preference. Haven't burned through a battery yet but its claimed to be very good for a sight like this. I still keep a spare CR123A stored on the gun just in case. Works fantastic with Magpul flip up iron sights as a backup. Some people may not love the look, but I think it looks amazing and I appreciate that they tried something different compared to its direct competitor. The only negative (besides price) I could come up with for this Vortex is its bulk. She's a big girl for an optic that has no magnification and I have not tried to use it with a magnifier which would add even more bulk. I also have not tried using NV goggles with these yetSince people will obviously cross shop this with the EOTech, i'll give my thoughts after using both fairly extensively. For the same features (NV compatibility, QD mount) the EOTech will run about $150-200 more. It is also more traditional looking and less bulky, though a scale says the weight savings are just a fraction of an ounce. If I knew I was going to find myself on a battlefield then I would likely stick with the EOTech as its a much more proven design. For my civilian uses the Vortex way over qualified as it is, if you want a REAL holo then these two scopes are basically your only two options and both are really good. I personally would choose to save some money and get the Vortex but I don't think anyone has ever regretted buying an EOTech either.

High Quality alternate to competing products

This sight may not be as well known as its major competitor, but it is made in the USA, and quite a good value in my opinion. Pair it with either of the magnifier options and you've got a really nice setup.

Eotech EXPS 3-0 vs Vortex AMG UH-1 Gen 2

I purchased both the Eotech EXPS 3-0 and Vortex AMG UH-1 to compare them. I received genuine products on both. I fully expected the Eotech to have the more crisp reticle, and boy I was wrong.Reticle - I have to say comparing them, the vortex hologram is easier to pick up with my 37 year old astigmatism eyes. The outer ring on the Vortex picks up much faster and gives me a slightly more precise center dot. The reticle has a slightly brighter color compared to the Eotech. The Eotech reticle is very slightly more blurry, which is a lot if you have astigmatism. I have previous experience with Eotechs and I know you need to focus on the target so that's not the issue. It's just not as crisp as the Vortex. This is a big problem when you need to shoot accurately. Under a magnifier both will be more clear due to the diopter on the magnifier.Battery Life - CR123A on both. 1500 hours on the UH-1, 600 hours on the Eotech. 8 hours auto off Eotech, 14 hours auto off Vortex. This is an advantage for the Vortex if you want to leave it on while you sleep or if you are LEO you can turn it on for a work shift.Glass - I spent a lot of time looking through both of them in various lighting conditions. The UH-1 has a very slight blue tint that isn't really noticeable - I have to really try hard to tell, but that bluish notch filter is part of what gives it a significantly better battery life over the Eotech. The Eotech is a little more clear. Both have a little bit of excess adhesive around the glass.Size - the Vortex looks huge, but is actually smaller in every dimension except for the hood. It can also mount farther forward on the upper receiver, and leaves 1 more rail slot available compared to the Eotech.Price - The correct price for the Vortex is $500. Some companies are taking advantage of the scarcity of the UH-1 and I don't blame them. Check around as they pop up at Academy for the correct price. Its about $175 cheaper than the Eotech(which is not the main factor when you want the best but I'll happily take it).Warranty - Vortex has a no questions asked forever warranty. If you shoot your sight with a 12 guage and then boil it in a pot of acid, Vortex will replace it. I take care of my stuff, but it's still nice having that peace of mind when dealing with electronics. Eotech is kind of a poor company if you need customer service. They really don't stand behind their product beyond 2 years, and they make that clear when you open the box. Imagine the service you get at the DMV. L3 doesn't care about their civilian customers. They are essentially government company.Aesthetics - Everyone knows looking cool is the most important thing, so if your gun is a instagram model you should probably consider the Eotech.Overall I can say the Vortex is a superior optic with a better price and warranty.
