don't get too caught up in the box making details...
no need to get too caught up in all the info out there on boxes and ports and tuning and bla bla bla...bunch of self strokers who want to sound like they know what they're talking about...buy 2 of these subs...build 2 boxes that they fit into (or one box for 2 subs if you'd like) with a little wiggle room inside the box...wiggle room cuz you're going to have to make the boxes very very sturdy with inner bracing...even if you use 3/4 inch mdf...brace the heck out of the boxes and user generous amounts of screws and glue...maker the port about 8 to 10 inches deep into one front side of the box...2 inches wide, and however tall your box is...double layer of mdf or plywood should be used on the front side where you actually attach the subwoofer with screws...nice 2 inmch long stainlessmsteel machine style scrtews with fat phillips heads on them...you'll need allthe fixings like speaker wire and terminals and whatever your setup requires...and don't skimp on the juice...big watts and big subs need big amps...I got two EVL 15's ...dual 2ohm voice coils wired for 4 ohms a piece...hooked up to a rockville RPA16 10,000 watt peak amp...so it really puts out about 1500 watts per channel under 4ohms of impedence...you should pick up a basic crossover for whatever your setup is...it'll give your more control over which frequencies are going to which speakers...you absolutely need a crossover in a sub scenario...my setup is for home audio so it also makes it easier for me because I don't need to mess with the crossover switch on the back of the amp when its buried under all the other gear and cables in the stack...my crossover unit is at the front end of the signal chain right at my fingertips...i've never had to run the amp at more than half capacity and the volume is beyond ridiculous...i don't get off on seeing how low i can force my subs to go...I listen to music....really really loud music with heavy leanings toward bass filled music...like drum and bass stuff they are big on over in the UK and such....I am more than pleased with the performance and sound quality of the EVL 15's....been running them for several months...can't review anything else from Skar cuz I don't own anything else from them...but the EVL 15's are awesome so far...i'm sure my neighbors feel differently about them...lol

This thing pounds!
My son bought this for his Ford F250 extended cab while he was in military training and dear old Dad had to figure out how to make it fit. Well I had to take out the bottom of the jump seat behind the driver so I could fit the custom box. The rest of the back seat is still in place and functional and is actually covering the amp rack. I was able to fit a 3 cubic foot sealed box behind the drivers seat while it is all the way back, we are both 6 foot 2. Currently I have it running on a four channel Stinger Audio MT-600.4 producing 500 watts into the 4 ohm configuration and it provides a decent back massage. I have not tried turning it up too high as I don't want to blow the sub, I'll leave that to my son when he gets his truck delivered to his first duty station. I am currently working on the amp rack to hold the 4 channel amp and a Stinger 1500.1 that will drive this sub with 1500 watts in the 1 Ohm configuration. That is still a little under powered for this beast but it is 3 times what it is getting fed now so I know it while pound even harder!!

Bumps
If you want chuck Noris beating you in the chest here it is. It’s loud it’s stiff and it’s heavy. Takes tons of power and you’re not worried if you’re gonna blow it. Very good sub. For everyone saying it’s spl and doesn’t sound good they must have a hard time hearing. This sounds great it’s accurate and it’s very loud.

3 years later and they're still just plain nasty!!!!
Bought 2 of em 3 years ago from here. Figured I'd come back and leave a review. First off, they are still alive and well. Secondly, I don't know how, because I have tortured them with .5 ohm wiring for most of the time and 6000w with sufficient electrical. So just buy them my guy. You know you wanna... But I repeat, I had sufficient power. 220 amp high output alt and 2 xs power batteries with the big 4 wire upgrade.
