I bought this sub £13 here on Amazon, which for this quality of boardgame is a steal. Never played CATAN but felt I should, once. It's a 1995 game. Don't let that pit you off. It really is a classic. We played this 2 player (with some home rule modifications for 2 player cobbled together off Reddit and BoardGameGeek). Worked fine at 2 player. Great game. Both like it. Quality components. For £13 really great value. Easy rules to grasp if you've played a few board games. Classic Euro style game and I really liked it. This is the Family Edition which lacks the loose hexagons allowing more random set up. Not a issue for us. We found it less fiddly. Recommended as essential for an board game shelf.

The only difference to the normal Catan game is the set-up, which is designed to be a bit more fair by requiring less skill in choosing starting locations. My son is 7 and after a couple of games playing with help, he is ready to play independently. My 4 year old is still too young and quickly lost interest.Fantastic game that we play over and over. Always going to be a favourite.

A really fun game , my boys love it

The game lasts for 60-90 minutes which is enough to keep our three teenagers engaged, competitive and off their screens.It’s a really well thought out game which rewards strategy and isn’t just reliant on the roll of a dice (looking you Monopoly). Each player rolls on their turn, but every player can benefit from the roll.Highly recommended to get the family together and interacting in person!

Wanted to try Catan and saw this version cheap £14 or so compared to around £50 for the regular game.Played it with the kids a couple of times, 9 year old was fine, 6 year old got a bit bored and wasn't fit for it without help. Never played the original Game so can't compare. Possible to play in one sitting (just) unlike monopoly/risk.

A brilliant alternative for someone's who's not sure whether they want to invest in the full version. Fun game which can be played as a family. Box states the play time as approx 60mins+. We found that our games are lasting 2hrs+. Fantastic value at just over £13.
