For many years, I've been tapping off my CNC machine's coolant sump pump for the wash-down hose. Anyone who has a CNC machine knows what I'm talking about. But sump pumps are really not designed for lots of pressure, and the wash-down has always been lacking in that department. On a whim, I picked up one of these pumps to give it a try.First thing I ran into was what others have mentioned, a 1/2 pipe thread fitting doesn't really screw onto the plastic fitting threads on the pump body. It goes on about one turn is all, if even that much. The thread pitch of the plastic is actually the same as 1/2 pipe thread, but it's not tapered.However, using a 1/2 pipe thread tap and some elbow grease, I was able to open up the inside of the 1/2 fip x 3/4 male hose end brass fitting (an off-the-shelf piece at Home Depot, SKU 894907). Wrapped some teflon tape onto the plastic and I was able to screw it about halfway on. Works good and doesn't leak. I'll include a picture.On the inlet side, I attached the included filter and then the included plastic 1/2 hose barb fitting, then a short piece of clear vinyl tubing to the sump. It only has to lift the coolant a few inches.Plugged it into the machine's "Coolant 2" plug, powered the machine on, turned on the coolant 2 function, squeezed the sprayer's trigger, and voila, great pressure! Not quite pressure washer level, but plenty to blast chips out of the far corners of the machine. Very impressed with the both the pressure and volume delivery, it's a massive improvement over the sump pump.The pump is very quiet, and kicks on as soon as I pull the trigger on the sprayer, and shuts off as soon as I release it. Really a slick little pump that solved my problem nicely. I can't believe I've gone all these years putting up with low pressure, when the solution was so simple and inexpensive.The life of the pump is still an open issue, but it has a 4 year warranty. If I get that out of it, I'll have my money's worth. If it dies before then, I'll update the review. But as of right now, five stars for this little pump.

1. I have a network of 6 rain barrels that all drain into a low point barrel. The low point barrel feeds the suction side of the Sealflo 33. The pump has worked great. Sometimes the low point barrel has run dry thus we've have periods of inadvertently running the pump dry. Of course I keep an eye on my rain barrel system so that I can turn the pump off before my water supply runs out. The pump has always soldiered on despite my occasional lapses.2. I run the pump in the shade so I have had no issue with overheating. 3. I use the pump for hand watering my garden. The purmp performs very well at providing enough of a consistent pressure for hand watering. In fact, in my situation the pump prevides more faucet pressure then our public water supply.TIP 1: On the pump suction side eliminate or at least reduce flexible hose of any kind. Otherwise, such hose will tend to collapse when the pump is switched on.TIP 2: On the pump's pressure side: Long lengths of flexible hose (at least 50 feet) (rubber or nylon hose, but NOT plastic) will serve the same function as a pressure tank - that is, the flexible "give" in the hose material will allow the pump to build pressure and then cycle off. Use of the faucet will relieve the pressure in the hoses. Once the inside pressure in the hoses drops, the pump will cycle on again. I think I have avoided the need for a pressure tank by my use of a long flexible hose that ends in the watering faucet. And, I do not have an issue with quick on/off cycles.Tip 3: As other reviewers have said, you might find it diffulcult to use the pump threads. I quickly gave up and just used short sections of cut off garden hose with hose clamps.Conclusion: The pump serves me well for hand watering with rain water that I pump from a network of rain barrels.

Why did you pick this product vs others?:Good overall pump. I use it for my hydroponics system. It runs on a schedule. This pump is not intended to run continuously. It does run hot. It will be very hot to the touch after a couple hours of running. Good flow! We use the same pump in our RV and they work great in that application.
