Goodbye Ring, Hello Eufy
Oh, the saga of my doorstep security! It’s a tale that takes us from the clutches of subscription fees to the land of eufy enlightenment. Let me regale you with the story of how I swapped out my Ring doorbell for the majestic eufy Security Video Doorbell E340—and why it’s the best home upgrade decision I’ve ever made.Once upon a time, I was a loyal subject of the Ring kingdom. But as their subscription fees soared like a dragon over the land—42% increase, my fellow villagers!—I knew it was time to seek a new guardian for my realm. Enter the eufy E340, a beacon of hope in the dark night of expensive subscriptions. Why is the eufy E340 the crown jewel of doorbells, you ask? Let’s start with the video quality. If my old Ring was a muddy peasant, then eufy is the crystal-clear prince. Watching my front porch in Full HD is like having a front-row seat at a theatre where the daily drama of deliveries and doorstep visitors unfolds in Oscar-worthy clarity. And the night vision? A revelation! It turns night into day, revealing all the nocturnal critters and late-night pizza deliveries in stunning detail. It’s like being bestowed with the gift of sight by a benevolent wizard. But perhaps the most enchanting feature is the lack of subscription fees. Yes, my friends, the eufy E340 offers all its glory without demanding tribute. Every feature, every notification, every magical moment caught on camera is mine without additional cost. It’s like finding a treasure chest in your backyard that never empties.Installation was a breeze, a fairy tale of simplicity. I half expected woodland creatures to come and assist, so smooth and easy was the process. And the eufy app? A loyal squire at your side, making setup and daily use as easy as waving a wand. Now, let us not forget the two-way audio feature, a feature so crisp and clear that it rivals the town crier. Conversations with visitors are now less “What did you say?” and more “Ah, yes, delightful weather we’re having.”In closing, the eufy Security Video Doorbell E340 has not just replaced my Ring; it has utterly dethroned it. Everything about this doorbell is superior. The increase in Ring’s subscription fee was the push I needed to discover this gem, and oh, what a gem it is.So, to those standing at the crossroads of doorbell dilemmas, wondering which path to take, let me guide you to the eufy E340. It’s not just a step up—it’s an ascension to the throne of doorstep security. Five stars? No, this doorbell deserves a crown.

Good doorbell camera with Homebase 3 connection
This doorbell is easy to set up but be aware that using all the features increases the battery use. I haven't used all the features set to maximum but a full charged battery is down to 58% after a week. It seems reliable and takes good images. I originally had the eufy chime connected but I returned it due to wifi issues, I got the eufy Homebase 3 instead which is much better (ethernet to router). If I was mean I would deduct a star due to high battery use if you want to use the AI features (have 2 batteries) , it is a good door cam but I didn't since you can also wire it up instead I haven'tA nice feature is the door step cam so you can see the amazon man leaving a package at 7.15am Sunday morning. You can also see what is happening when away from home. Works well with Hombase 3 and I will probably get another Eufy 4k camera for the back gardenI turned notifications down as it alerted me everythime a car drove past

Good deterrent to trespassers
Bought when it was on sale. I chose this specific camera because our front door has a couple of steps up to it so other cameras wouldn’t cover lower down, where parcels tend to get left. We had had a couple of items stolen from our doorstep so this was meant as a deterrent. I also didn’t want to get locked in to a subscription service like Ring. The positives: I feel it works as a really good deterrent for people who might be trying to access your property for nefarious purposes. When the camera detects movement a light on it comes on to show it is recording, which is even more apparent at night. Recordings are clear and good quality. The app is easy to use. We’ve set up alerts from the app to our phone so we know when someone is on our drive or has rung the doorbell - very handy when you’re in the garden! The bad: Getting a second battery is pretty much essential. Battery life is reasonable but it takes a few hours to recharge and unless you have a spare you are without any sort of doorbell during this time. Getting the alert sensitivity set up was a bit of a faff to strike the balance between not getting a push notification every time someone walks past your house and not knowing when there’s someone in your front garden. Setting zones is your friend here. If, like me, you went for the doorbell alone without the base station on the understanding it would work with Alexa devices, there are some issues. There’s a noticeable delay - up to 5 seconds - between the doorbell being pressed and the audible alert going off. Sensitivity also seems to be variable - sometimes you get 20 alerts in the space of 5 minutes because someone is taking the bins out, whilst the same day someone can walk up your driveway without it triggering (this doesn’t happen very often to be fair). The function of using the app to talk to someone at your door (telling the postman where to leave a package when you’re out of the house etc) has never worked that well for me - you need to have a good internet connection on your phone and even when it works the lag is such that the person has probably left before you manage to speak to them.
