Works great!
This is a great secondary pump for my in-ground pool. The configuration for the vacuum on the main pump is a hassle to setup and maneuver. So, introduce a second mobile pump to run my auto-cleaner and when necessary I also use for hand vacuuming. Great power, and saves me hours every week!

Stopped working at 10 months, no warranty
The standard 1/4hp that came with my Intex and the small sand filter (like 10 inches) just wasn't getting the job done. Hurricane Ian decimated my clean pool, filling it with dirt, leaves, and sand from all over Florida. I quickly scooped out leaves and vacuumed debris, and the next day it turned green. For over 2 weeks, 10lb of shock over a dozen vacuuming cycles, all chemicals balanced, and it still was green on the walls and bottom. Bought this and the GLASS MEDIA instead of sand, vacuumed, and within 24 hours I could see the bottom and the next day was crystal clear. Still had to vacuum dead algae one more time off the bottom, but this pump/filter along with glass media gets the job done.***UPDATE JUNE 2023*** Lowered from 5 to 3 stars. Had this for 8 months and the hose split today, draining quite a bit of my pool while I was at work. Luckily I had a really long hose I can put in it's place till the small one arrives. Went to XtremepowerUSA's site to tell them of this defect in the hose, and got an email that they are so backed up that they would get to me when they could. When they did get back to me, they told me I could buy the hose for 30 bucks plus shipping from their webpage. I asked about the warranty and they said there is no warranty outside of the individual websites return window. Thank goodness the pump and filter still working, so I guess I will keep buying 25 dollar hoses from 3rd party suppliers because there'sno way I would buy a replacement hose from the same defective supplier as the one I already had.**UPDATE AUGUST 2023** Today the hose burst again due to poor design and flooded the pump (which now will not work). Paid over 250 bucks for something that lasted right at 10 months, and they say that there is no warranty on their product. DO NOT BUY THIS CHEAP CRAP, YOU WILL REGRET IT!

It's worth it!
This is the 2nd sand pump that I bought, the first one being a Swimline and it was TERRIBLE. Leaked everywhere. This one is identical to the first one, but it works like a dream. No leaks and is very powerful.

Instructions are garbage, so figure it out yourself.
Be forewarned that the instructions that come with this pump are completely inadequate. The parts listing is a rough sketch, and there are 2 sets of instructions; one for the pump tank and one for the motor. The tank instructions mention a glass view port. There is none. The motor instructions shows you how to turn the switch on and off. There is no switch. I turn it on by plugging it in. It shows you how to read the pressure gauge so you'll know when you need to backwash. Guess what? The pressure gauge does not work.I would have returned it and gotten another model, but I was desperate to make the water flow in my pool. My last pump got a crack in it and started leaking. Algae was growing like fascism and I had to wait several days for delivery.Once I got it figured out and connected, it seemed to work better that the old pump, but that's not saying much. I had to Google how to backwash because the first time I tried it, the pump blew chunks of debris into the pool as soon as I turned it on. Over time, the flow has seemed to decrease a bit. I'd love to prove that, but without a working pressure gauge, well...Note that this model comes with filter balls, not sand. I don't know if this is better or not. Mind you, I had a lot of algae to clean out. I've had to clean the filter balls twice now. It's very time-consuming to clean them well by spraying them off individually with a hose. I'd guess about 2 hours. It was maybe 150 balls. The next time, I got wise and filled an old cooler with water and filter cleaner spray, poured from the bottle. I put the balls in there and filled a separate rinse bucket with water. Swish them around and spray with the hose if necessary. I set up a chair in the shade and wasn't too bad.Overall, I would have rated this much lower (and would have returned it), but I was in dire straits and it turned out to be a slight improvement to my old, broken pump. Save yourself some time and frustration and get a better model. Better yet, buy an ionizer. That cleared my water much quicker than this pump.
